Your first smile design evaluation: what happens, step by step
What we check, how the 3D scan works, how long it takes and what you leave with after a free smile design evaluation in Tampa.
A smile design evaluation is a 60 to 90 minute visit where we look at your teeth and gums, listen to what you want to change, scan your smile in 3D and give you a treatment plan with an exact quote. It’s free (terms and conditions apply), and it doesn’t commit you to anything.
Here’s what actually happens, so you can walk in knowing what to expect.
Before you come in
Most people start on WhatsApp. Send a photo of your smile and tell us what bothers you: color, gaps, length, chipped edges, crowding. It helps us prepare, and you’ll usually get an answer in under one business hour.
Bring a list of questions and, if you have them, photos of smiles you like. They don’t have to be celebrity smiles. A photo of your own smile from a few years ago is often the most useful reference of all.
1. The conversation
We start by listening. What do you want to change, and what do you want to keep? Some people want a dramatic change; others want their own smile, only brighter and more even. Both are valid, and they lead to very different designs.
The whole visit can be in English or Spanish. Everyone on our team speaks both, so nothing gets lost through a translator.
2. Checking your teeth and gums
Veneers sit on healthy teeth. We check your gums, existing fillings or crowns, wear on the edges of your teeth and how your bite closes. If something needs attention first, we tell you plainly, explain why and point you to the right specialist.
3. The 3D scan
We scan your teeth with a 3D scanner. The resulting model is the base for the digital design: it lets us measure each tooth and plan the new shape on screen.
4. The design conversation
With the scan and photos, we talk through the design choices:
- Proportions. The front two teeth set the smile. We aim for a width close to 75–80% of their height, with the teeth on each side stepping down naturally.
- The smile curve. The edges of your upper teeth should follow the curve of your lower lip when you smile.
- The midline. The line between your two front teeth should sit straight, in line with the center of your face.
- Shade. You choose between three shades, judged next to your skin and lips rather than on a chart alone.
5. Material and plan
We go through porcelain, polyresin and resin with your case in mind: how long each would last, what maintenance it needs and whether it includes a try-on before cementation. If you want a side-by-side view, read how to choose between porcelain, polyresin and resin.
What you leave with
- A treatment plan for your case.
- An exact quote for the material you’re considering.
- Information about paying in installments with Klarna, if you want it.
There’s no pressure to decide that day. Take the plan home, think it over and write to us when you’re ready.
Who you’ll see
Treatments are performed by a Florida-licensed dentist, and design, 3D scanning and ceramic printing happen under our own roof in Carrollwood. We see a few patients a day, so nobody hands you off halfway through your appointment.
